Today technicians of the Germplasm Bank of the University of Catania together with the forest workers of Service 13 for the Territory of Messina, have completed the planting of 700 plants of Anthemis messanensis.
Known as Messina Chamomile, it is an endangered, rare and endemic species of the Sicilian flora that grows exclusively in the Antennamare area on Mount Peloritani.
The intervention is aimed at increasing the consistency and genetic diversity of the species, numerically strengthening the natural populations already present in the Special Conservation Area (SAC) “Dorsale Curcuraci, Antennamare” (ITA 030011).
