WAY Together – Walking And Yachting Together promotes a new tourism and cultural business model based on nature-based experiences in forest and marine environments with social and healthcare objectives. It includes two pilot actions in Sicily and Malta, targeting people with mild-to-moderate mental disabilities, and supports inclusive, responsible tourism. The project develops skills for tourism professionals and values inclusion as an economic asset, in line with the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights. It addresses growing demand, as global disability rates rise due to ageing populations and chronic illness.

• 1 marketing strategy based on profiling the tourist segment “people with mild-to-moderate mental disabilities”
• 3 “WAY Together” protocols for inclusion and universal accessibility in tourist paths
• 40 + 20 beneficiaries (people with disabilities and caregivers) involved in accessible activities
• 1 pilot action “WAY Together” tested in forest environment (in Sicily) and 1 tested in marine environment (in Malta)
• 1 cross-border integrated pilot action between the two areas
• 8 organisations cooperating beyond the project duration

• Development of a new inclusive tourism model for people with mild-to-moderate mental disabilities
• Implementation of two pilot actions (one in a forest environment in Sicily, one in a marine environment in Malta)
• Creation of 3 WAY Together protocols for universal accessibility of tourist routes
• Direct involvement of at least 60 beneficiaries (40 people with disabilities + 20 caregivers)
• Adoption of a marketing strategy targeting a specific tourist segment
• Promotion of cross-border cooperation among public, private, and third-sector organisations
• Increased awareness of the social and economic value of inclusion in tourism
• Training of tourism operators to improve inclusive skills and services
• Practical implementation of the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights on non-discrimination and access to culture and nature
• Creation of a replicable model for other local or international contexts
