VERA addresses the growing incidence of neurodegenerative disorders and the need for more accessible diagnosis and treatment. Cooperation between Sicily and Malta connects healthcare institutions, universities and companies to develop collaborative, non-invasive and low-cost systems. Artificial intelligence, virtual reality and wearable sensors will be integrated into shared protocols for early diagnosis and for monitoring therapeutic and rehabilitation pathways.

An intelligent multimodal platform for diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation; a data-acquisition pilot action; shared protocols; and a joint solution designed for uptake by Sicilian and Maltese healthcare organisations.

In the medium term, VERA can support earlier diagnosis, more targeted rehabilitation pathways and more efficient use of healthcare resources, while strengthening digital innovation in health.
The cross-border dimension makes it possible to compare a regional and a national healthcare system, share complementary data and expertise, and validate the same protocols in two different healthcare and cultural settings. The solutions are designed to be shared, transferable and usable beyond the funding period.
