Supports smart and competitive growth in the Italy–Malta area through the strengthening of research, innovation, digitalisation and skills development. The objective is to foster cooperation among universities, businesses, research centres and institutions in order to develop innovative solutions in strategic sectors such as the green and blue economy, health, advanced technologies and creative industries.

Because investing in research and innovation means creating new skilled job opportunities, making regions more competitive, and helping businesses grow without losing their connection to the local area.
Universities, research centers, public bodies, public law organizations, businesses, and other entities active in innovation, organized in cross-border partnerships between Sicily and Malta, are generally eligible to participate.
Applied research projects, testing of new technologies, technology transfer, and innovative solutions for strategic sectors such as the environment, the blue and green economy, health, and quality of life.
